The decision to make first

You may need several kinds of help for a senior home move, but not every family needs the same professionals. Start with the homeowner's goals, the decisions to be made and who can authorise each step.

What does coordination with Shen mean?

You work with me on the real estate strategy. Legal, tax, financial, care and moving services are separate professional services where needed, subject to their own engagement, availability and fees. This guide does not describe an employed team providing all those services or guarantee an outside provider's work.

Choose help for the actual question

A real estate lawyer can address title, signing, contract and closing issues. An accountant can advise on tax treatment and reporting. A financial planner can help compare retirement cash-flow scenarios; that title is not interchangeable with CPA. Care and accessibility professionals can assess needs within their expertise. A move professional can quote for contents and relocation work.

Agree on scope, costs and information sharing

Ask each provider what is included, what is excluded, who pays, which qualifications or insurance are relevant and how changes are approved. Confirm the actual client and permitted recipients of confidential updates. Separate providers should not be assumed to owe a single duty to every relative.

Keep the housing options open

The first recommendation may be to investigate support at home or postpone a property decision. If a move is appropriate, compare renting, buying and residence arrangements against actual written costs and available support. Real estate proceeds are finite. Coordination cannot guarantee care funding, tax relief or family agreement.

Before committing

• List the owner's priorities and decisions needing specialist advice.
• Confirm ownership, signing authority and communication permissions.
• Obtain written scopes and budgets before approving work.
• Build a shared timeline using only information the client authorises people to share.

How I help with the real estate plan

I help the client compare property options, relevant sales, preparation costs, offers and a practical timeline. We confirm who can instruct, sign, approve expenses and receive updates. Real estate representation does not make me the family's lawyer, tax adviser, care assessor or neutral mediator.

Outside professionals have their own scope, availability, fees and responsibility. We agree on any preparation or moving help before work is booked. A market estimate or planned closing date cannot guarantee a price, a tax result or uninterrupted housing.
